SB 690 removed one claim. The rest stands.

California signed SB 690 on September 30, 2026. It takes effect January 1, 2027, and it is narrower than its early drafts.

Private lawsuits over the pen register section, § 638.51, are closed for websites and apps. Only the California Attorney General can bring that claim.
The wiretapping sections, § 631 and § 632, are unchanged.
The tracking itself is still against the law. SB 690 changed who can sue, not what a website may do.

Is the free homepage check the same as a browser scan?

The homepage check reads the code returned by your homepage and identifies recognized tracking scripts in that code. A deeper scan loads pages in a real browser and observes activity before consent and after acceptance. Create an account and verify your domain to use browser scanning.

How should I compare Consentinel with CookieYes or another consent platform?
